Special Considerations for the Mobile Employee

Employees who frequently or exclusively work off-site will probably not use the mother’s room, but you can support them by providing access to a lactation consultant, supplying educational materials, helping them locate, rent or purchase a pump—and perhaps most importantly, helping them make accommodations to pump when necessary. Note—Manual pumps, battery operated pumps, rechargeable battery pumps and pumps that adapt to power from a cigarette lighter are popular with employees who travel or spend a lot of times in cars. In these situations, a cooler and cold pack for storage are also typically necessary.
