Essentials for a Mother's Room

A room or area that locks, or has a “Do Not Disturb” sign, with an electrical outlet (for the pump) to be used privately by employees who need to pump or breastfeed at work.
A sink (or nearby access) with hot and cold running water, and cleaning supplies for washing hands and cleaning equipment.
A table or counter at approximately desk height for placing pump and/or other equipment. Note—Make sure it is close to the outlet so the pump can easily be plugged in.
A comfortable chair located near the electric pump, for use by the employee while she breastfeeds or pumps.
Disinfectant solution for cleaning spills.
Waste basket for refuse.
Instructions for using the facility (pump instructions, clean up, schedule/sign-up sheet, etc.).
